Descriptions Outlook 2000 in a Nutshell (In a Nutshell (O'Reilly)) for Free
Most people first come to know of Microsoft Outlook as an e-mail client, vaguely related to Outlook Express, which in turn appeared when they last upgraded Windows. Indeed, Outlook functions wonderfully for e-mail, but unfortunately many rarely dig deeper. Outlook 2000 in a Nutshell aims to correct this sad fact, acquainting the reader with this suite's many features and providing several convenient means of acquiring the services it provides as an excellent Personal Information Manager (PIM).
Anyone who has become aware of some of Outlook's speedy services--organising time and information in several convenient ways--will benefit instantly from this friendly, informative and well organised book. It reveals Outlook's whole scope in well-co-ordinated chapters that make it easier both to learn one topic at a time, and to locate a desired piece of information for clarification. The book works effectively both as a way to learn and apply Outlook, and as a handy yet fairly complete reference. Diagrams--particularly screen shots--are plentiful and helpful. The index is thorough and very useful. Nearly two hundred tips are scattered through the text, most of which are very useful, and all of which are placed in an appropriate chapter. The title and location of all tips are listed (in numbered sequence rather than by subject alphabetically) as one of the appendices, which is less practical. The last third of the book (Parts 3 and 4) shows how an operator can extend the utility of Outlook, tailoring it imaginatively for personal distinctive needs. --Wilf Hey, Books To Read Before College .
